7DAYS - Man accused of drug smuggling: "Iranian sailor went on trial yesterday accused of possessing and trading with 1kg of heroin.
Dubai Court of First Instance heard Dubai Police’s Anti-Narcotic Department received information the 53-year-old smuggled the drugs into the country on his dhow and that he was looking for a buyer.
“We sent an undercover policeman to meet him near the boat at Dubai Creek. He asked for dhs38,000 and we arrested him,” an officer said.
The defendant denies the charge."
