Lap-dancing clubs in Britain may soon be shut under plans to re-categorize them alongside sex shops and peep shows.Bosses are considering the closure of the clubs near schools and other controversial areas.“I think the numbers probably will go down but what’’s important is that the local people and local authorities feel they have the power to ensure they are sited appropriately, The Independent quoted Vernon Coaker, the police minister, as saying.The Lap Dancing Association revealed its members feared club closures, as at present lap-dancing clubs are licensed in the same way as bars and pubs, but under the new legislation they will be classified in the same way as sex shops.The changes made in the Policing and Crime Bill will also radically tighten the law on prostitution.
